Birds figured out

How musical are birds? Why do they sing?
Professor of music cognition Henkjan Honing, violinist Merel Vercammen, and accordionist Wilco Oomkes explore these questions in an interactive lecture recital. Merel and Wilco perform bird-inspired music by, among others, Vivaldi, as well as improvisations based on the character of different birds. Henkjan explains what makes the pigeon, zebra finch, and cockatoo so special. And who knows—perhaps a blackbird (merel in Dutch) will make an appearance too.
